Kirtsy Takes a Bow Book Launch Party

Update: Karen Walrond is a photographer, writer, and Kirtsy book contributor...and she rocks...by far the most fun I had talking to at the party...but I digress!

Karen posted a few pictures from last night's shindig. You can see her pics and other amazing works at her blog http://www.chookooloonks.com/blog/ .

Last night the Bubblegum Tree loft was the host site for the Kirtsy Takes a Bow book launch party! I have to admit that while I am blogger and one who loves the blogging world in general I have never really gotten into some of the blogging social sites out there. I know they are useful, but I am unfamiliar with the specifics of how they work and have never ventured to find out.

What does that have to do with Kirtsy? Kirtsy.com is a website created by three moms during a super bowl game where women all across the world can link and vote for stories of interest. It can be a blog post, or a news story, or something along those lines. If you are a woman and an avid reader and interested in what is going on in the world around from a woman's point of view, then this is a site that you will love!

The new book Kirtsy Takes a Bow is a collection of the best stories linked in the one year since its inception. Among the guests at the party were Laura Mayes, editor of the book as well as several of the contributors who are bloggers right here in Houston. I picked up my copy and mingled (awkwardly I might add...its been a while since I was out with adults) and got several sigs from Laura and the other authors. It took every ounce of energy I had to keep myself from nerding out the place! I am pretty much never around other bloggers and this was my first real exposure to this many in one place at the same time...and they were published bloggers at that! I kept my composure, politely asked for each authors signature...you know mingled...smiled and waved...and then left early before I could say or do something to completely embarrass myself!

All in all, a success!

Here is a bit from the inside of the jacket cover. It's that good! I didn't even make it page one and I was already excited!

Crack the covers on this collection and you'll be plugged into what is happening in women's social media today...It's soul food-for-thought....You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll nod your head in recognition. If you've been feeling like a wallflower at the party, you'll finally get what the woman's internet revolution is all about.

This book is out in stores so pick it up for some good reading! I think you'll like it!

I wish I had pictures from the launch party to post but this photographer forgot her camera! Of all the times for mommy brain to kick in!
